Guest Speakers

To introduce new perspectives to our students, the Institute hosted a series of guest speakers.   Brett Hammond, Chief Investment Strategist at TIAA-CREF in New York City, spoke to students about his asset-allocation strategy.  Los Angeles-based-hedge-fund manager Tom Giovine , CEO of Giovine Capital Group spoke to students about his investment strategy and use of the discounted-cash-flow model to value equities.  Hedge-fund-manager Stephen Lauck , CEO of Ashfield Capital Partners, based in San Francisco, spoke to students about his investment strategy focusing on large capitalization growth stocks.   George Westmoreland , a retired Merrill Lynch executive and Garrison Financial Institute advisory board member, spoke to students about his career and gave students his view of what it takes to succeed as a stock broker.  John Manley, Chief Investment Strategist of Smith Barney, travelled from New York City to share his view of the economy with our students, and forecast sectors of the economy expected to flourish or flounder over the next 12 months.
